The OWL Book Club was started by former OWL president (2001) Susan Erickson
in November 1999, and meets in member's homes at 2 PM on the 4th
Tuesday of each month (except July, August and December). After Susan's death
April 21, 2002 the name was changed to the Susan Erickson Book Club.
This congenial group informally discusses books of their choosing.
These books can be either fiction or non-fiction and may or may not have been
previously read by the chooser. The book can be in paperback or hard-copy only—if
the library has enough copies that all members can get a copy. The person
who chooses the book will lead the discussion.
Books discussed in the last two years:
- Reading Lolita in Tehran by Nafisi
- Hiden Power, Presidential Marriages by Kati Marton
- Tara Road by Maeve Benchy
- The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
- Secret Life of Bees
- In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O'Brien
- Kite Runner by Kkhalid Hosseini
- Return to Emptiness by Chris Ramsick
- The Known World by Edward Jones
- Nicholed and Dimed by Barbara Ehreneich
- The Island at the Center of the World by Shorter
- Fugitive Wife by Peter Brown
- The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
